Which side of plane

Ok - I know I saw this on this board at some point - but I did a search and couldn't find it.

Which side of the plane (based on when you are sitting - facing the front of the plane) - is best for getting a nice view of the strip flying in? (and is it the opposite side for flying back out?)

We'll be flying in from Chicago (Southwest). I know it may vary based on wind direction and such - but I also know they tend to land in one direction most of the time.

Alaska Airlines-Awesome

Just booked my first free flights using my miles earned from my Alaska Airlines Visa Card. Awesome experience. Mom and I are flying to Las Vegas on May 18th. She is flying from Seattle, me from Spokane. Our flights cost us $10 each. ( ok, well not free)
Each round trip flight cost us 20,000 miles. I think I got 10000 just for signing up.
We both have to fly to Portland first, but was able to get us on the same flight into Las Vegas from Portland.
I'm so syched. This...

I've never flown Southwest before and am wanting to book my next flight to Vegas. The person going with me isn't sure if he can make it at the same flights as me. Can I go ahead and book both of us on the same flights and then if he can't make it at the same time will Southwest let me change it or should I just book mine and let him be on his own?

I've been checking prices for an early April flight, $424 rt seems real high. If I go to Norfolk it's $203 rt.

In your experience should I wait for a better price from Richmond or hassle with getting down to Norfolk?

America West changes Frequent Flyer Program

Many of you probably alread noticed this, but the company that touts being the winner of the freddie mac award, now jacked their minimum number of miles up to 25,000 for domestic flights. They also have a program where if your destination is less then 750 miles away you can get the flight for 15,000 miles but here is the kicker. If your destination is <750 miles away, but you have to further than that because of connections, you still can not use the 15,000 mile deal. I am assuming the...

Unlikely to find lower fares this year. We are booked for April 14-21.

Hi all....I used to be a frequent viewer and sometime contributor to these boards. Have not been able to get out to Vegas lately so have not had much to contribute in the last 6-8 months ANYWAY, I need some help with a few airline/non Vegas questions.
1) What have your experiences with Spirit airlines been like. How do they compare with airlines like United or American for Service and Space
2) I am looking to travel in May '04. Does anyone know when I can see some rates decreasing...

Smoking in Airport

Does anyone know if there are designated smoking area inside Chicago O'Hare airport? I know there are quite a few airports now that have this and am hoping Chicago is one of them since I have a 30 minute layover there then on to Vegas.

Ok, I've finally gotten enough miles to fly to Las Vegas with my Alaska Airlines mileage plan.
My question is: How far in advance should I book my flight. They say there are only so many seats that they allow mileage plan members to use. I want to go in March sometime so should I book now, or wait.
Has anyone been refused seats 3 months in advance?
Or should I get off my butt and just book it.
